Biographis Muhammad Yamin

Muhammad Yamin was born on August 24, 1903 in Sawahlunto, West Sumatra. Yamin is a national hero, humanist, and well-known legal activist in Indonesia. 

M. Yamin has a complete education. His education began when he attended Hollands Indlandsche School (HIS). He also received education at the teacher's school. M. Yamin also attended Bogor Agricultural High School, Bogor Veterinary School, AMS, and the Jakarta Justice School (Reeht Hogeschool). M. yamin is one of the legal experts and is also the leading poet of the new generation of poets. He produced many written works in the 1920s, some of which used Malay. M. Yamin's written works are published in the journal Jong Sumatra. He is also one of the pioneers of modern poetry. M. Yamin wrote many well-known historical and literary books, namely Gajah Mada (1945), The History of the Diponegoro War, Tan Malaka (1945) Homeland (1922), Indonesia Spilling Blood (1928), Ken Arok and Ken Dedes (1934) , American Revolution, (1951) 

M. Yamin's career in politics began when he was appointed chairman of the Jong Sumatra Bond from 1926 to 1928. After that in 1931, he joined the Indonesian Party. But the party was dissolved. His political career continued when M. Yamin founded the Indonesian People's Movement party with Adam Malik, Wilipo, and Amir Syarifudin. 

As a writer, the poetry style of Siti Sundari's husband is known for his poetry style which uses many endings of rhymes. Not only that, he is also said to be the first person to use the sonnet form in 1921 as well as the pioneer of the New Pujangga Force which was founded in 1933. Raised in the world of education with a Dutch background, it does not mean that Yamin, as he is called, sided with the Dutch at that time. occupy Indonesia. The spirit of nationalism continues to burn and is evidenced in the form of literary works and avoids westernized sentences.

M. Yamin was also a member of the BPUPKI and a member of the committee of nine which finally succeeded in formulating the Jakarta Charter. The Jakarta Charter was the embryo and was the basis for the formation of the 1945 Constitution and Pancasila. M. yamin has also been appointed as a member of the Central Indonesian National Committee (KNIP). 

After Indonesia's independence, Yamin held many important positions in the state, including being a member of the DPR since 1950, Minister of Justice (1951-1952), Minister of Teaching, Education and Culture (1953–1955), Minister of Social and Cultural Affairs (1959-1960), Chairman of the National Planning Board (1962), and Chair of the IKBN Antara Supervisory Board (1961–1962). 

M. Yamin died on October 17, 1962. He died in Jakarta and was buried in the village of Talawi, Sawahlunto Regency, West Sumatra. He died when he was Minister of Information. M. Yamin was awarded the title of national hero in 1973
